In 1974, our nine-year-old daughter, Babe, was diagnosed with leukemia. At that time, there were no real support systems in place for families and children with cancer, and we decided to take steps to change that. Shortly after Babe’s diagnosis, we established The Canuso Foundation to fund pediatric cancer research and to help parents and children deal with the devastating effects of cancer and cancer treatment on their lives.
Our dedication to this cause has been constant, even as our daughter, Babe Canuso Fischer, won her battle against childhood leukemia and grew to have a family of her own. In 2005, as she continued the work of the Foundation, Babe died from a brain tumor, which was a long-term side effect from her childhood treatment.
Energized by Babe’s spirit, courage and determination to help others, three generations of the Canuso family continue Babe’s legacy as we support pediatric cancer research, help families and children affected by cancer, and enable young people to reach for their dreams.
We invite you to join us.
